Alma Calma Fuerteventura

«Matter is not a support: it is the discourse itself. When the pigment is the earth, the work ceases to represent — it becomes.»

— Alonso Murillo Gil

A Geological Intervention
on the Island of Fuerteventura

«Entre Tierras: Alma Calma Fuerteventura» is a site-specific artistic intervention in which Alonso Murillo Gil extracts, processes and applies natural mineral pigments from the volcanic soil of Fuerteventura to create a series of monumental and intimate works.

Every colour in the project originates from the grounds of Alma Calma Hotel Rural and its surrounding terrain — a living palette shaped by millennia of geological process. The island itself becomes both subject and material.

The result is a body of work that cannot exist elsewhere: paintings that carry within them the specific mineral memory of this place.
