This year, Alma Calma welcomed a small ceramic collection by Norwegian artist Vigdis Wicklund.
Working from her studio in Halden, Norway, Vigdis hand-models every piece and mixes her own glazes and clays — so no two figures are ever quite the same.

Each sculpture belongs to its own small invented world: a hardworking mouse who secretly dreams of being Mighty Mouse, a tadpole on its way to becoming an armoured frog, a shy fruit-eating “piranha,” a little colony of penguins raised alongside wallabies, and a small, quiet seahorse. Playful, a little absurd, and full of warmth — much like Alma Calma itself.

You’ll find them in our hall and breakfast room: six hang from the wooden beams above the tables, caught mid-flight, while the rest watch quietly over the windowsills, with the ocean and the volcanoes as their backdrop.
